Light

The light burst from the ends of her tangled hair, and the tips of her dirty fingernails. It shot from every crease of her tan skin, and poured from the wide open portals formed by her eyes and mouth.

Tiffany had been minding her own business when the bus driver on his usual local route got distracted by a new passenger and her crying baby. Three stops before, he let them on and regretted the decision instantly. The baby started crying as soon as its mother sat down, and wailed when the bus tipped over onto Tiffany.

He mind had been elsewhere, contemplating not the groceries, or her to-do list, or the relationship with her estranged mother, not even the pleasures of last night's date with James. She was stuck on a theory that our world was made up of more complex patterns and systems than many human minds can grasp. And she was sent on this thought tangent thanks to a recent episode of NOVA on the Theory of the Multiverse.

No sooner than Tiffany struck upon the realization that the theory and all that it entailed might be true, than the bus teetered, tipped, and trapped her on the sidewalk.

That was when the light began to pour from her...
